Symantec has announced the launch of Norton Internet Security 2009 and Norton AntiVirus 2009 in India. Norton 2009 was compared to existing security products in the market by independent test labs PassMark Software and AV-Test in a lead up to its global launch. Vishal Dhupar, Managing Director, Symantec India said that Norton 2009 is a significant product in company’s history given the advancements over their existing product lines, in response to both user feedback and the rapidly evolving, complex nature of security threats and risks.
Micro Technologies has launched a security system for two-wheeler segment in the market, Micro Bike Security System (Micro BSS), to secure motorbikes and scooters against theft. ‘Micro Bike Security System’ is a small hardware device developed for the security of all type of two wheeler vehicles. Micro BSS comprises of a compact hardware unit which is fitted on to the bike, along with a small receiver unit. In the event of movement or tampering of the bike, the owner is immediately alerted through an alarm.
Symantec Corporation has indicated that its next-generation security products for consumers would install fast, run fast, and download fast. Tom Powledge, vice president of product management for the consumer products division of Symantec said the primary complaints Symantec hears from consumers boil down to security products being confusing, eating up a lot of storage space, and slowing down the PC. “Security technology does not have to be big, fat, and slow,” he said as he gave reporters a sneak preview of the features that will be built into Norton products, Symantec’s brand of consumer security software. “We are setting on a mission to provide zero-impact on the performance of your computers.”
CA Inc. has launched an internally developed CA security product, CA Security Compliance Manager. The CA Security Compliance Manager delivers capabilities that help the company’s customers address IT security and comply with legal, corporate and government regulations. The CA Security Compliance Manager product focuses on helping organizations automate processes for answering security questions such as “Who has access to what?” “Who can do what?” and “Who approved what?” to help detect security policy or compliance violations and then initiate any necessary remediation.

AhnLab has launched a new integrated security product for Windows server called the Net for WindowsServer 7.0, or V3 Net 7.0. The new product is an integrated security solution that provides security for corporate network environment by protecting the Windows server from malignant code and hacking. Aside from providing regular features such as anti-virus and anti-spyware, it also offers network security, making it a unique product.
